Looking back at your preliminary task (the college magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
When I first started using photoshop I had enough knowledge to know the basic tools used in making images now after all the work Ive done I know how to make alot better images then what
I could make before.

Before After
The type of tools that I found greatly improved the look of my work was the use of Opacity in some parts of the image also another part that helped my work look alot better would the use of changing layers and then changing the effects (Colour burn, dissolve etc.) and this would change the colour pattern of the image below to what the image on top looked like. One of the most effective tools I used wasn't a tool but an effect, "Colour burn" and this added a coloured effect that sort of burnt into the page. The last effect that I used was the stroke tool this added an sort of outer glow but using solid lines instead of a glow.
When I made my magazine I knew from the start that I just wanted to target the hard rock and heavy metal audience because that's the type of music I listened to at the time. Another reason I chose to make this type of magazine is because I felt there it was an under valued market and isn't represented to well in the modern world where ever you look its just all about hip hop and pop music aka Simon Cowell world. When doing my research into the wonderful world of music magazines the only ones that really stood out for me where the rock n' roll magazines simply because they were so different, they weren't just clones of other magazines with a different title they had a uniqueness about them that made them stand out.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Adobe Photoshop
When I first started using photoshop I already had past knowledge of using photoshop from past years and I didn't think that I would learn anymore but I was wrong, from making a few music magazines I learnt a lot more about photoshop than I previously thought I could. Other things that I learnt when I used photoshop for such an extensive amount of time was that you can possible create anything using it. For example some of the new techniques I learned though out editing my images in photoshop was to work with the natural lighting in the image to get the best effect possible using tools to change the contrast. One of the biggest pluses I learn making my magazine covers would be the layering of the image to get the best effects from changing the opacity of the image. The part of my image I'm most happy with would be the tittle I didn't think at first I could pull it off but after alot of working with I finally made it work with the design of my cover.
The only real disadvantage of using photoshop would have to be the amount of things you can do, it makes it rather hard to remember everything other disadvantages would have to be the tools in some photoshops differ from computer to computer, for example you could use a font on one computer go onto another and find out it doesn't have that type of font installed meaning you can't edit the work.
When you use free internet applications such as Flickr or Blogger is that you have no control over what the website does with your work, also you have no say in what happens to the website, for example it could go down at any point and you wouldn't be able to access your work.

How did you attract/address your audience?
The way in which that my magazine communicates with my target audience is by using the uncontrolled and unfiltered language by this I mean there is profanity in the magazine this connects with my target audience because they don't tend to be held down by the modern conventions of the world today where using language is frowned upon.
Other ways that I found out what my target audience was by asking my friends although they don't all read magazines they all had there opinions on what would make a good music magazine so I took there advice to heart and designed it around that for example none of them really cared much for advertisements but I knew I had to include them into my magazine because that's one of the main forms of income in terms of music magazine.

Who would be the audience for your media product?
I believe they would buy my magazine because its what they listen to there nothing in my magazine that you hear on kerrang before the watershed there no fake rock bands made by the companies aimed to sell there just all hard rock and heavy metal bands. Another reason why I think they would buy my magazine is because of the offers on the front cover, things like CD's and info o where to get cheap tickets for gigs. The only thing I think would be advertised in my magazine would be other bands and maybe some food products.
